Hand wash & decontamination
A safe two-bucket wash, then iron, tar and clay to leave the paint smooth as glass.
Most swirl marks start at the car wash. Ours begins with a foam pre-soak that lifts grit before a mitt touches the paint, then a two-bucket wash so the dirt you take off never goes back on.
After the wash, an iron remover dissolves brake dust bonded to the paint, and a clay bar pulls out what is left. Run your hand over the bonnet afterwards: it should feel like glass.
How it is done.
- 1Wash and decontaminateFoam pre-soak, two-bucket wash, iron fallout remover and clay. Polishing over grit puts new scratches in.
- 2Measure the paintA gauge reads the paint depth on every panel, so we know how much clear coat there is to work with before a pad touches it.
- 3Correct under studio lightCompound, then polish, one panel at a time under lights that show swirls, holograms and haze.
- 4Strip the oilsA panel wipe removes polishing oils that would hide defects and stop a coating bonding.
- 5Coat and cureThe coating goes on in sections, is levelled, and cures overnight indoors before the car goes home.
Often booked with it.
